Canvey Island, Essex

Isaac’s team asked us to carry out a measured survey and prepare existing drawings for a house in Canvey Island, ready to support a planning application. His colleague Veronica handled the booking and client access.

We first agreed the scope and fee, then sent a clear quotation and invoice. Once the initial payment was made, we:

  • Confirmed a Saturday survey slot to suit the homeowner
  • Shared the surveyor’s name and mobile number
  • Gave an arrival window so the client knew when to expect us

How we did the survey

On the day, our surveyor visited the site and used:

  • A Disto laser to measure internal rooms and key external faces
  • A consistent room-by-room method so no areas were missed
  • Internal and external photographs to record details and levels

This gave us enough reliable data to build accurate:

  • Existing floor plans
  • Elevations
  • Roof plan and key section for the planning pack

Drawing production and checks

Back in the office, our CAD team turned the survey data into scaled drawings in AutoCAD. We:

  • Drew everything in 1:1 metric so designers can scale as needed
  • Cross-checked plans, elevations and section against each other
  • Ran a quick internal QA before issuing the draft set

We then sent a draft drawings pack to Isaac so he could review everything with his team and move the planning work forward, while we waited for the final balance.

Later, Chloe emailed to say the council had requested revisions before validation. We checked the notes and replied to clarify that:

  • Our role was limited to existing drawings only
  • We had not produced the location plan
  • We had not produced any proposed drawings

After this, Chloe wrote back asking us to disregard the revision request, so no changes were needed to our existing set.

Final delivery

Once the final payment was made, we released:

  • Final DWG file
  • Final PDF drawings
  • A formal receipt and download link

Isaac’s team now have a clear, scaled existing-drawings pack for the Canvey Island property, and when a council query did arise, we helped them untangle it quickly by explaining exactly what we had and hadn’t produced.g use.re and after the front extension, backed by accurate survey data and a 3D record of the interior.
