Ravi asked us to survey a property in Richmond and produce a full set of existing drawings. The scope was:
- Main house
- Studio and shed (outbuildings)
- Plans, elevations, section and roof plans
After a short back-and-forth about whether to include the outbuildings, Ravi confirmed he wanted everything in one package. We then sent a clear quotation and, once the invoice was paid, booked the survey for a fixed morning slot.
How we did the survey
On site, our surveyor used:
- A Disto laser to measure all internal and external spaces
- A structured room-by-room workflow to keep notes and levels consistent
- A 3D scan of the main building and studio for later reference
This gave us:
- Reliable floor layouts for the main house and outbuildings
- Enough information to build accurate roof plans and a section
- A visual 3D record the client could walk through later
Drawing production, QA and revision
Back in the office, we built the CAD model and produced:
- Existing floor plans (main house, studio and shed)
- Roof plans
- Elevations and a section
We sent a draft drawing pack so Ravi’s team could start checking and planning their work.
Ravi then flagged an important issue: when they overlaid the ground and first floor in their own software, the outlines didn’t line up, and the roof plans weren’t matching the first floor either. Instead of arguing the point, we treated it as a priority QA task.
We:
- Re-opened the CAD model
- Checked key control dimensions and grid lines across all levels
- Adjusted the alignment between ground, first floor and roof where needed
- Re-issued the updated set as “Rev001”
We confirmed to Ravi that all files had been checked again, and when he mentioned the DWG on their server was out of date, we resent the latest DWG and noted when it had first been uploaded to Google Drive.
Final delivery
Once payment for the final stage was confirmed, we released:
- Final DWG file
- Final PDF drawings (main house, studio and shed)
- 3D scan links for the main building and studio
- A payment receipt and download link
Ravi’s team now have a corrected, fully aligned survey pack and 3D scans they can trust for design, modelling and detailing on the Richmond project.se before and after the front extension, backed by accurate survey data and a 3D record of the interior.
