Rob, from a design practice, asked us to carry out a measured survey and prepare existing drawings for a detached house in Streatham. The drawings were needed for a planning application for a loft conversion and a side garage conversion.
We agreed the scope based on his written brief. The package included:
- Ground, first and loft floor plans
- Front, rear and side elevations
- Cross section from ground to roof
- Indicative roof plan
We sent an invoice and, once payment was made, started working with the estate agent to arrange access. At one point the owner refused access until contracts were further along, so we paused the job and issued a refund. When access was later confirmed, we re-booked the survey and agreed a clear arrival window.
Before the visit, we confirmed key details with Rob: loft access, ladder needs, who would be on site, and the agent’s contact. On the day there was some confusion about whether the survey was internal or external only, but our surveyor was still able to collect the full internal information needed.
After the survey, we moved the drawings through our quality check and sent Rob a draft pack to review. Once the final invoice was paid, we provided:
- Final DWG and PDF drawings
- Site photos and supporting files
- A payment receipt and a download link for everything
When Robert later couldn’t find the link, we simply re-sent it with a short reminder, making sure he and his team had easy access to all the files for their planning work.
