The Challenge

The client needed a measured survey and existing (as-built) drawings for a residential property in New Eltham to support a loft conversion project. The key requirement was to book a survey slot quickly and ensure the surveyor could access the loft safely (with a ladder available on site).

The project also required clear coordination on the day—confirming who would be present, sharing contact details in case of access issues, and ensuring external photographs were captured alongside the measured work. Finally, the client wanted visibility on when the drawings and survey information would be issued, with a draft shared first and the final pack released once everything was complete.

Our Solution

PlanCraftDaily scheduled the site visit within the requested midday arrival window and provided the surveyor’s contact details to streamline on-site coordination. Access notes and a named on-site contact were captured up front to reduce the risk of delays on arrival and to confirm the survey was being undertaken on behalf of the client team.

Following the site visit, the drawing pack was prepared and moved through internal quality control before being issued as a draft for review. Once confirmed, the final package was released, including CAD and PDF drawing files plus site photographs. This staged handover (draft first, final second) ensured the client could review the information before relying on it for the next steps of the loft conversion workflow.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the loft conversion purpose, agreed the survey slot, and captured key access notes (including loft ladder availability). We also requested details for the person attending site, plus a backup contact in case of access issues, so arrival could be coordinated smoothly.
On-Site Survey
We shared the surveyor’s details and confirmed an arrival window for midday. The client provided the property owner contact and clarified who the survey was on behalf of. This reduced friction on the day and ensured the surveyor could proceed without delays.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
The surveyor attended site and carried out the measured survey required for producing existing/as-built drawings. External photos were captured as requested to support the drawing set and provide visual reference points for design coordination and verification.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
Survey information was converted into a draft drawing pack and passed through a quality control check before issue. This step focused on consistency and completeness so the client could review a reliable draft set prior to final issue.
Draft Review and Final Handover
We issued the draft drawings for review and, once confirmed, provided the final package. The handover included CAD (DWG) and PDF drawings plus site photographs, giving the client a complete as-built record ready to support the next stage of the loft conversion work.
