The Challenge

The client needed a measured survey and a complete set of existing (as-built) drawings for a residential property in South Harrow. The requested package covered all floors, key roof information, elevations, and a section to match their usual specification and quality requirements.

The main challenge was coordinating a suitable site appointment quickly and working to a clear deliverables list: three floor plans (all levels), one roof plan, three elevations, and one section. The client also needed a structured review stage, so any amendments could be captured before the final issue.

Our Solution

We arranged the site visit and confirmed an arrival window for the survey. On site, we captured the measurements required to produce accurate existing drawings across all levels and external elevations, alongside the information needed to set out the roof plan and section.

Following the survey, we produced a draft drawings pack and shared it with the client for checking. Once feedback was addressed (where applicable), we finalised the drawing set and issued the full project outputs, including CAD and PDF files plus supporting site photographs for reference.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access

We confirmed the required deliverables for the existing drawing set, including all floor plans, roof plan, elevations and section. This ensured the survey could be planned around the information needed to produce an accurate as-built package and reduce follow-up queries after the site visit.

On-Site Survey

We agreed a survey date and arrival window with the client and confirmed the surveyor details. Clear scheduling helped ensure access was available and supported an efficient visit, keeping the project moving from survey to drafting without avoidable delays.

Cross-Checking Before Leaving

On site, we captured the measurements required to produce existing drawings for all levels, key external geometry for elevations, and the information needed to set out the roof plan and section. Site photographs were also taken to support drawing accuracy and clarify details during drafting.

Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations

We produced a draft drawings pack and issued it to the client for review. This stage allowed the client to check layouts and references against their requirements, so any corrections could be incorporated before the final drawing issue and file export.

Draft Review and Final Handover

After review, we finalised the drawing set and issued the complete outputs: CAD (DWG) files, PDF drawings and supporting site photographs. The final pack included the agreed existing floor plans, roof plan, elevations and section, ready for onward use by the client team.
