The Challenge

The client needed a full measured survey and a complete set of existing (as-built) drawings for a residential property in Hayes. The key requirement was to capture the building accurately on site and translate that information into clear, usable drawings for onward project use.

A practical constraint was coordinating access and ensuring the survey could be completed within a defined arrival window on the agreed date. The handover also needed to follow a clear review path: provide draft drawings first, address any queries, then issue the final package once the client confirmed everything was in order.

Our Solution

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access

We confirmed the scope as a full measured building survey with existing (as-built) drawings. Access arrangements were agreed and the survey visit was scheduled with a defined arrival window. Surveyor contact details were shared in advance so the client had a clear point of contact on the day.

On-Site Survey

Our surveyor attended the property on the agreed date and time window to collect the measurements needed for accurate as-built drawings. Site notes and photography were captured to support the drawing process and help verify features when producing plans, elevations, and the section.

Cross-Checking Before Leaving

Using the site measurements, we prepared the draft existing drawings set, covering the floor plans (including roof), elevations, and a section. The draft pack was issued to the client so they could review layout, labelling, and any key details before finalising the files.

Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations

We invited the client to check the draft drawings and share any queries or corrections. Where comments were provided, we updated the drawings accordingly to align the final outputs with the measured information and the client’s expectations for presentation and usability.

Draft Review and Final Handover

After confirmation, we issued the final deliverables, including the CAD (DWG) files, PDF drawings, and site photographs. This ensured the client had both shareable drawing PDFs and editable CAD files suitable for onward design, coordination, or project documentation.
