Residential Measured Building Survey & Existing Drawings — Ascot

Results at a Glance

Full measured survey captured across plans, sections, and elevations.

Key heights recorded, including floor-to-ceiling and roof ridge heights.

Detailed building elements measured, including openings, walls, and garage.

As-built drawing pack issued in CAD and PDF for design coordination.

The Challenge

The client needed accurate existing plans and elevations to support simple internal reconfigurations at a residential property in Ascot. The brief required a full measured site survey to create reliable existing drawings for early-stage design and coordination.

Because the work related to internal layout changes, the baseline information needed to be detailed enough to avoid on-site assumptions later. In addition to the general measured survey, the client requested key dimensional information such as floor-to-ceiling heights, roof ridge heights, garage measurements, and precise door/window sizing. Site features like manhole positions, wall thicknesses, and any critical measurements also needed to be recorded for a complete as-built picture.

Our Solution

We scheduled a site visit and carried out a measured building survey covering all required building geometry. The scope included producing drawings for all plans, sections, and elevations, with additional attention given to vertical height data and key structural/functional elements noted in the brief.

During the survey, we captured opening sizes and heights, measured wall thicknesses, and recorded garage dimensions. We also identified and located manholes and noted any critical measurements highlighted by the client’s requirements. Site photographs were taken to support drafting, checking, and future reference.

Following the survey, we translated the measured information into a coordinated existing drawing set, issued as CAD and PDF files for straightforward use in the client’s workflow and to form a reliable base for future internal layout development.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the purpose of the work was to support simple internal reconfigurations and agreed the measured outputs required. The scope included a full measured survey with plans, sections, and elevations, plus specific requested measurements such as key heights, garage dimensions, opening sizes, wall thicknesses, and manhole positions.
On-Site Survey
A site visit was arranged to suit the client’s programme and access requirements. This ensured enough time on site to capture the full building geometry and the additional detail requested, including vertical heights and site features, while minimising follow-up visits and avoiding gaps in the measured information.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
We carried out a full measured survey, capturing all spaces and external geometry needed for plans, sections, and elevations. Alongside general dimensions, we measured floor-to-ceiling heights and roof ridge heights, recorded garage measurements, checked door and window sizes/heights, and noted manholes and wall thicknesses.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
Survey data was translated into coordinated as-built drawings, producing the required plans, elevations, and sections. We used site notes and photographs to verify key elements and ensure the drawing set reflected measured conditions, including the critical measurements highlighted in the brief for future layout and design coordination.
Draft Review and Final Handover
We issued the final as-built package in CAD (DWG) and PDF formats, with supporting site photographs. The drawing set provided a dependable baseline for the client’s internal reconfiguration work and ensured the key heights, openings, garage dimensions, wall thicknesses, and site features were documented for ongoing project use.

Results & Impact

The client received a complete as-built drawing pack based on a full measured survey, including plans, sections, and elevations. The documentation captured key heights, openings, wall thicknesses, and site features such as manholes, providing a dependable baseline for internal reconfiguration design. Files were issued in DWG and PDF formats with supporting site photographs for reference.
