Residential Measured Building Survey & As-Built Drawings in Twickenham

Results at a Glance

Survey-based GA floor plans produced for all floors with services marked (as requested)

Ceiling plans prepared to support lighting and ceiling-detail coordination

A main section issued to show floor thicknesses and key vertical information

Internal elevations and room photographs delivered through a shared project folder

The Challenge

The client needed a full measured site survey and a coordinated set of existing (as-built) drawings for a residential property in Twickenham, including GA plans of all floors with lighting and heating shown, a main section to confirm floor thicknesses, and elevations of each room. They also requested room photographs captured in elevation and preferred a CAD layout that arranged elevations “360” around the plan to support their workflow.

The programme was moving quickly, so the scope had to be confirmed early (including electrical outlets and switches) and the survey visit scheduled promptly with a clear arrival window. The drawings also needed joinery-related details reflected where possible (such as skirting, dado rails and cornice), while keeping the deliverables practical for onward design development.

Our Solution

We confirmed the required drawing content and priorities before the survey, including GA floor plans for each level, the preferred inclusion of electrical outlet positions and light switches, and the need for a single primary section to indicate floor build-ups. We also clarified expectations around the internal elevations, focusing on producing a usable DWG layout that supported direct editing and fast onward design work.

Following the scheduled site visit, we drafted the floor plans and section first and issued an initial drawing pack for review. In parallel, we progressed the remaining items—ceiling plans and internal elevations—then uploaded each completed element to the same shared folder to keep access simple and versioning controlled. Revisions were incorporated where required before the full drawing set was signed off as complete.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the drawing requirements and client preferences, including GA plans for all floors, services marking (outlets/switches), a main section for floor thicknesses, internal elevations, and room photographs. We also agreed a CAD layout approach to support efficient downstream design work.
On-Site Survey
A survey slot was arranged with a defined arrival window and a named surveyor for on-the-day coordination. We requested a site contact to ensure access and smooth movement through the property, helping keep the visit efficient and reducing the risk of return trips.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Our surveyor carried out a measured survey of the property to capture the geometry required for accurate floor plans, ceiling information, and elevation drafting. Notes were taken to support interior detailing needs and to ensure the final drawings aligned with the client’s design and coordination requirements.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
We prioritised production of the floor plans and main section first, then progressed the ceiling plans and internal elevations. A draft drawing pack was issued for review, and the remaining drawing elements were completed and added to the same shared folder as they were finalised.
Draft Review and Final Handover
Feedback was incorporated and the drawing set was finalised, including revised plans, the section and the internal elevations. All files were delivered through the shared folder for continuity, ensuring the client had a single, reliable location to access the complete package and related outputs.
