The Challenge

The client needed a full measured site survey with accurate as-built drawings for a residential property in Romford, including plans, sections and elevations. In addition to the main building, the scope required detailed checks on internal heights, roof ridge height, door and window sizes, wall thicknesses, and any other critical measurements that might affect design decisions.

The survey also needed to include the detached garage and specific site information such as the position of manholes. Access coordination was time-sensitive, with instructions for the surveyor to contact the client on arrival to be let into the property. The client requested clear visual context as well, via site photographs and a video walkthrough.

Our Solution

PlanCraftDaily scheduled a site visit and confirmed an arrival protocol so access could be provided smoothly on the day. On site, the surveyor carried out a comprehensive measured survey to capture the geometry needed for reliable as-built outputs: floor plans, elevations and sections.

Measurements included floor-to-ceiling heights, roof ridge height, garage dimensions, and the sizes and heights of doors and windows. Additional checks covered wall thicknesses, the position of manholes, and any other critical dimensions flagged during the survey.

Following the sitework, the drawing pack was quality-checked before issue. The final handover included CAD and PDF drawings, supported by photographs and a video walkthrough to provide visual confirmation of site conditions.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the survey requirements: full measured site survey with plans, sections and elevations, plus floor-to-ceiling heights, roof ridge height, garage dimensions, door/window sizes, wall thicknesses, manhole positions and any critical measurements. Access instructions were agreed so the surveyor could contact the client upon arrival.
On-Site Survey
A survey slot was arranged within the agreed date window, with clear instructions for arrival and access. The client contact details and approach (call ahead / contact on arrival) were recorded to reduce delays and ensure the survey could begin promptly once on site.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Our surveyor captured the internal and external measurements needed for accurate as-built drawings. This included levels and heights (floor-to-ceiling and ridge), openings (door/window sizes and heights), wall thicknesses, garage measurements, and key site elements such as the position of manholes, plus any other critical dimensions noted during the visit.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
Survey information was translated into a structured drawing set: floor plans, elevations and sections. The drawing pack was checked for completeness against the scope—heights, openings, wall thicknesses, garage data, and any critical measurements—before moving to final issue.
Draft Review and Final Handover
We issued the completed drawing pack in CAD (DWG) and PDF formats, along with supporting site photographs and a video walkthrough. This ensured the client had both technical outputs and clear visual context for review, coordination, and onward project use.
