The Challenge

The client needed a measured survey and a complete existing (as-built) drawing pack for a property in Ealing, West London. The key requirement was to capture accurate existing information and return a set of drawings suitable for downstream design and coordination.

The main challenge was coordination on the survey day. The agreed arrival window shifted later than expected, which required active communication to keep site contacts informed and ensure access was maintained. Managing expectations and keeping the site visit on track was essential to protect the overall programme and maintain confidence in the delivery.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access

We confirmed the site address, required existing outputs, and agreed a survey date and arrival window. Surveyor contact details were shared in advance to support access and on-the-day coordination, with the client asked to confirm who would be present on site for handover and entry.

On-Site Survey

Our surveyor attended site and completed the required measured work. When the arrival time shifted later than planned, updated timing was communicated promptly so the site team could adjust. Access was confirmed and the survey was completed without issues once on site.

Cross-Checking Before Leaving

Survey information was converted into an existing (as-built) drawing set, covering the agreed views and details. The focus was on producing clear, consistent drawings that reflect measured site conditions and can be used as a dependable base for design coordination.

Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations

Before issuing, the drawings went through an internal quality assurance check to verify completeness and consistency. A full draft pack was then shared with the client for review, enabling any final checks to be completed before the final drawing issue.

Draft Review and Final Handover

After the draft pack review and client sign-off, we issued the final drawings in the agreed formats. The handover included both DWG and PDF files, along with site photographs, providing a complete, organised package ready for the next project stage.
