Residential Measured Building Survey & Existing Drawings – Willingale, Essex

Results at a Glance

Completed measured survey of ground and first floor with access coordinated for the visit.

Produced existing drawings including front/rear elevations, an open side elevation, and a left-to-right section.

Included garage and perceived boundaries as requested for the drawing set.

Issued final CAD and PDF files with supporting site photographs, with tree positions recorded as accurately as possible from available information.

The Challenge

The client needed a measured survey of the ground and first floor, alongside existing drawings covering front and rear elevations, an open side elevation, and a section through the property. They also required the garage and perceived boundaries to be included, plus the proximity of two large trees shown on the drawings.

The main coordination challenge was confirming site access and scheduling the survey within a suitable arrival window. During drawing production, the team identified that additional on-site information was needed to capture the positions of the two large trees with full confidence. A revisit was requested to verify these features, but confirmation was not received at the time the draft pack was issued.

Our Solution

PlanCraftDaily scheduled the measured survey once access was confirmed and shared the surveyor’s arrival window and on-site contact details. Following the visit, the team progressed the project through internal quality checks and produced a draft drawing pack for review, aligned to the requested outputs and inclusions.

To support accurate site context, the team flagged the tree information early and proposed a brief revisit to update the tree positions. Where confirmation was pending, the drawings represented the trees as accurately as possible using the information available, and the team offered to revisit the site to update the tree locations.

Once the project was signed off, PlanCraftDaily issued the final drawing set and related files, including CAD, PDFs, and site photographs, providing a complete package ready to be used by the wider project team.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the required survey scope and drawing outputs, including ground and first floor plans, elevations, and a section. The client also asked for the garage, perceived boundaries, and two large trees to be shown in proximity. Any site constraints and access expectations were clarified before scheduling.
On-Site Survey
Once access was confirmed, we scheduled the site visit and provided an arrival window and surveyor contact details. The client was advised to ensure access throughout the property and external areas needed for measurement and site context, supporting an efficient visit and complete data capture.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Our surveyor attended the property to capture the measurements required for accurate existing drawings. The survey focused on the internal layout (ground and first floor) and the information needed to produce elevations and the requested section, alongside site features relevant to the drawing pack.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
We produced the CAD drawing set and moved the pack through internal quality assurance. During this stage, we identified that additional detail would improve confidence in the exact locations of two large trees. A brief revisit was proposed to update the tree positions where needed.
Draft Review and Final Handover
After review, we issued the final drawings and related files as a complete handover pack. This included CAD (DWG) and PDF drawings, plus site photographs. Where tree position confirmation was still pending, trees were shown as accurately as possible from the information available, with a revisit offered to refine.
