The Challenge

The client needed a measured survey with existing drawings, covering external front and rear elevations and internal measurements to produce CAD floor plans. Timing was important, with an early request to start as soon as possible, but the survey had to be booked with a realistic lead-in and confirmed access arrangements.

Site access required coordination for key collection because the usual contact was unavailable. The client provided an alternative keyholder and address for collection on arrival, ensuring the surveyor could attend as scheduled.

The client also needed reassurance at the outset that final deliverables would include CAD (DWG) files, alongside reviewable draft PDFs before final issue, so their wider team could continue work using the correct formats.

Our Solution

PlanCraftDaily confirmed the deliverables upfront, including DWG as a final deliverable alongside draft PDFs for review and site photographs. Once the survey slot was secured, the surveyor’s details and arrival window were shared, helping the client plan site access and coordinate key collection.

Following the site visit, the drawing production moved through an internal quality assurance phase to check accuracy and consistency before issuing the draft pack. A progress update was provided when the client asked for timing, including clarification that drawing production begins the day after the survey.

After QA, the draft PDF pack was issued for review, followed by the final drawing package once the client confirmed everything was in order. Final files were shared together to support immediate use in CAD workflows and documentation.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access

We confirmed the survey scope (external front/rear measurements plus internal measurement for floor plans) and clarified the final deliverables, including DWG, PDFs, and site photographs. This ensured the client’s CAD-format requirements were agreed before scheduling and avoided rework later.

On-Site Survey

We proposed the earliest workable survey slot and shared an arrival window. When the usual access contact was unavailable, we coordinated an alternative keyholder arrangement provided by the client, enabling smooth site entry and keeping the survey appointment on track.

Cross-Checking Before Leaving

Our surveyor attended on the confirmed date and carried out the required internal measurements, with external measurements captured for the front and rear elevations. The collected site data provided the basis for accurate, survey-based drawings suitable for downstream CAD and project use.

Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations

Following the survey, we began drafting from the next working day and moved the drawings through an internal quality assurance stage. This review checked key dimensions, layout consistency, and completeness before anything was shared externally, supporting a reliable draft pack for client review.

Draft Review and Final Handover

We issued the draft PDF drawing pack for review and addressed the handover steps clearly. After the client confirmed the draft was acceptable, we released the final set including DWG files, final PDFs, and site photographs, completing the deliverables in the requested formats.
