Two-Storey End-of-Terrace Measured Survey in Thames Ditton

Results at a Glance

Issued a complete existing drawing pack for internal reconfiguration works

Delivered measured plans, elevations and a section in DWG and PDF formats

Captured key site constraints, including no visible manholes in front/rear gardens

Provided ongoing drawing support to help the design team review level alignment and wall positions

The Challenge

The client team needed an accurate measured survey and existing drawings for a two-storey end-of-terrace home in Thames Ditton to support an internal reconfiguration project. The scope required the “usual” drawing set—plans and elevations—plus one section to help with design decisions and coordination.

During the project, coordination between the ground floor and first floor became especially important for design development. The design team flagged that wall lines and site lines were difficult to align between levels, and they needed confidence in the base information before progressing with decisions relating to walls and potential structural implications.

Site constraints also had to be recorded clearly. The survey notes confirmed there was no visible manhole in the front or rear gardens, which was logged so the project team could factor this into future investigation and design coordination if required.

Our Solution

PlanCraftDaily completed an on-site measured building survey and translated the site information into a clear set of existing (as-built) drawings. The output focused on producing dependable base drawings that could be used by the wider project team to test layout changes and coordinate plans across levels.

Following the issue of the drawing pack, we supported the design team as they reviewed the relationship between the ground floor and first floor. Where alignment questions were raised, we treated this as a technical coordination point—ensuring the existing drawing set could be relied on for ongoing design checks and discussions around wall positions and layout revisions.

All deliverables were issued in practical formats to suit downstream use in design and coordination workflows, with the drawing set structured around the agreed scope (plans, elevations, and one section) and supported by site photographs.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
Confirmed the brief for a two-storey residential measured survey to support internal reconfiguration, including the required existing drawing set (plans and elevations) plus one section. Agreed the information needed for coordination and design checks, including noting any relevant on-site constraints.
On-Site Survey
Arranged a suitable survey appointment window and coordinated site access details with the client team. Ensured the survey visit could be completed efficiently and that the right contact details were available to manage arrival and access on the day.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Completed an on-site measured survey of the property, capturing the geometry required for reliable plans, elevations and sectioning. Logged relevant site observations, including confirmation that there was no visible manhole in the front or rear gardens at the time of inspection.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
Converted survey measurements into an existing (as-built) drawing pack, producing plans, elevations and one section. Applied technical checks to support coordination between levels, and ensured the drawing set was suitable for design development and internal layout decision-making.
Draft Review and Final Handover
Issued the completed drawing pack in DWG and PDF formats with supporting site photographs. Provided follow-up support as the design team reviewed level alignment and wall positioning, helping ensure the existing drawing information could be used confidently for ongoing design coordination.

Results & Impact

The project team received a complete existing drawing pack to move forward with internal reconfiguration design work, including measured plans, elevations and a section. Deliverables were supplied in DWG and PDF alongside site photographs, and key survey notes—such as the absence of visible manholes—were recorded. Post-issue support helped the team review plan alignment and wall positioning as the design progressed.
