The client’s architect needed a measured survey and a reliable set of existing drawings for a terraced house in SW London to support proposal design work. Coordination was required around the homeowner’s availability, with clear expectations that the visit was solely for measurement and documentation.

After the initial draft pack was shared for review, the architect requested additional clarity around ceiling detail to help progress their proposal thinking. A further practical issue then arose at handover stage when the architect reported that files appeared to contain watermarks and asked for a clean set suitable for professional use.

We arranged the survey slot around the confirmed access window and shared the surveyor’s details to support smooth on-site coordination. The project was handled with the architect as the primary liaison, ensuring site access and communication remained straightforward for the homeowner.

Following the survey, we produced the existing drawing set covering the key views required for onward design: plans, elevations, and a section. After the architect reviewed the issue and confirmed watermarks were present on the files they had opened, we asked them to re-check the previously uploaded finals and then provided a direct download of the final, clean PDFs to remove any delays and ensure they had the correct pack.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access

We confirmed the scope for a measured survey and existing drawings, with the architect acting as the main contact. Access timing was agreed around the client’s availability, and the visit was framed strictly for measurement and documentation to support production of accurate as-built drawings.

On-Site Survey

Surveyor information was shared ahead of the appointment to support smooth entry and coordination on the day. The measured survey was completed on site to capture the existing layout and building form needed for plans, elevations, and a section.

Cross-Checking Before Leaving

A draft drawing pack was provided for the architect to review. Feedback included a note that additional ceiling detail would be helpful for proposal design thinking, and this was acknowledged for improved coverage in future work.

Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations

Following review, the final drawing pack was issued in professional formats suitable for onward design and coordination. Deliverables included DWG and PDF drawings, aligned to the measured information captured during the site visit, plus supporting site photographs.

Draft Review and Final Handover

When the architect reported watermarks on the files they opened, we asked them to re-check the final uploads and then provided a direct download to the correct final PDFs. This ensured the architect had a clean, usable set without slowing their programme.
