The Challenge

The client needed a complete survey and drawing set for a domestic property in Beckenham, including a site plan, floor plans across multiple levels (including the side garage), a front-to-back section, all elevations, level information across the site, and trees plotted.

The key constraint was scheduling coordination around access windows and short-notice arrangements, with separate survey visits planned for measured building and topographical work. The scope also required detail beyond basic layouts—capturing changes in external levels and mapping trees so the information could support accurate site understanding and future design decisions.

Our Solution

We confirmed the client’s required outputs and organised attendance for both survey types. A measured surveyor attended to capture internal layouts and building form, while a topographical surveyor covered the external site elements, including levels and trees, aligning the findings to the requested site plan needs.

Following the site work, we produced a draft drawings pack for review so the client could check the layouts, elevations and section content before final issue. After feedback was completed, we finalised the drawing set and prepared the full handover package, including CAD and PDF outputs alongside site photographs.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access

We captured the client’s required outputs in detail, including a site plan, multi-level floor plans (including the garage), a front-to-back section, all elevations, level information across the site, and trees plotted. We also confirmed access expectations and who would be present on site for coordination.

On-Site Survey

We arranged survey attendance for both measured building and topographical work, providing the planned arrival windows and points of contact. This ensured access was aligned for the internal and external survey activities and helped keep the project moving despite short-notice scheduling pressures.

Cross-Checking Before Leaving

We translated the survey data into a structured drawings pack and issued draft PDFs for review. This stage focused on clarity, completeness and alignment with the requested scope—plans, elevations, section, and site information—so the client could verify key details before finalising.

Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations

After the draft review stage, we finalised the drawings and compiled the full deliverables pack. The handover included CAD (DWG) files, PDF drawings and site photographs, providing a reliable as-built baseline ready for onward design, coordination and documentation.
