Results at a Glance

Survey visit scheduled with clear arrival windows and on-the-day contact

As-built CAD and PDF pack issued for design work to proceed

Drainage features and boundary lines captured for site context

Misalignments identified and corrected, including bay roof geometry

The Challenge

The client needed a measured survey and an existing drawing package for a residential property in Wimbledon Chase, including side boundaries and drainage features (manholes and SVPs), and they needed the information quickly to start work.

The initial request included coordinating access and confirming survey timings, with a preference for the surveyor to message ahead with an ETA. After the draft drawing pack was shared for review, the client identified several alignment issues between items such as the bay window plan versus elevations, the conservatory, and boundary lines.

A key technical issue was also raised around roof geometry: the bay roof was drawn incorrectly, affecting the intended overhanging eaves. With the project moving into active design and delivery, accuracy across plans, elevations, and roof layouts was critical to avoid downstream rework.

Our Solution

We arranged the measured survey with defined arrival windows and provided a direct point of contact for the site visit, supporting smooth access on the day. The survey scope included boundaries and drainage features (manholes and SVPs), so the resulting information could be used confidently for site planning and coordination.

Following issue-spotting during the client’s review, the drawings were promptly re-checked. We acknowledged the bay roof discrepancy and confirmed the technical fix: adjusting the roof plan position so it produced the intended overhanging eaves on both the main dwelling and the conservatory.

We also explained the reason for an apparent boundary misalignment on one side: the first floor and roof were wider than the ground floor due to an archway at ground level. Updated drawings were issued, and we invited further feedback to confirm everything lined through as expected.

What We Delivered

Measured building survey site visit (scheduled arrival window and contact details)

Existing (as-built) floor plan drawings (survey-based)

Existing (as-built) elevations (as issued within the drawing pack)

Boundary lines marked on drawings (side boundaries)

Drainage features shown (manholes and SVPs)

Roof plan geometry correction to reflect intended eaves

Updated drawing issue following client review comments

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the required outputs for an existing drawing package and the specific survey inclusions, including side boundaries and drainage items such as manholes and SVPs. We also gathered client contact details and access preferences, including the request for an on-the-way message and updated ETA.
On-Site Survey
We proposed survey dates and agreed arrival windows for the site visit. The schedule was coordinated alongside another survey on the same day, ensuring the client had clear expectations for morning attendance. We provided the surveyor’s contact details to support smooth access and communications.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Our surveyor attended the property and captured the measurements needed to produce the as-built drawing pack, including site context items requested in the brief. The survey data supported accurate plan production and helped ensure boundary and drainage features could be represented consistently in the drawings.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
We produced the draft drawings and issued the pack for client review so any inconsistencies could be flagged early. This review stage focused on “lining through” between plans and elevations and checking key elements such as the bay window, conservatory, boundaries, and roof layout.
Draft Review and Final Handover
Following client feedback, we re-checked the drawings and corrected identified discrepancies, including the bay roof geometry to achieve the intended overhanging eaves. We clarified where building form differences explained perceived misalignments and issued an updated drawing set so the client could proceed confidently.

Results & Impact

The client received an updated as-built drawing set in CAD and PDF formats, with corrections made to roof geometry and improved alignment across key elements. With boundaries and drainage features included, the pack supported the client in proceeding with work without delays, while providing a clearer, more consistent base for ongoing design coordination.
