Residential Measured Building Survey & Existing Drawings in Richmond, London

Results at a Glance

Measured survey completed with coordination for site access and attendance.

Draft drawing pack issued for review, covering the main building and outbuildings.

Alignment issue identified between floors and corrected as an urgent revision.

Revised drawing set issued as “Rev001”, with DWG re-supplied for design use.

The Challenge

The client needed a measured building survey and a complete set of existing drawings for a residential property in Richmond, including associated outbuildings (studio and shed). The drawings were required promptly so the wider team could begin design and coordination work.

The project also required smooth on-day coordination, including confirming who would be present on site and sharing surveyor contact details to ensure access and timing were managed. After the initial drawing issue, the client flagged a technical problem: the ground and first floor plans did not align correctly when overlaid, creating risk for downstream design work if left unresolved. The feedback was treated as urgent, with the team rechecking the files and preparing an updated revision.

Our Solution

PlanCraftDaily scheduled the site visit and shared practical arrival details to support access on the day. Following the survey, the CAD team produced an existing drawing pack for review, covering the key set of measured outputs requested (plans, elevations, roof plan and section), and accounted for the main building plus the outbuildings.

When the client reported that floor levels did not line up across drawings, the team reviewed the set, corrected the misalignment, and reissued the drawings as “Rev001” so the client could rely on consistent geometry when overlaying plans. Where file availability was raised (the latest DWG not appearing on the server), the DWG was resent to ensure the client had the correct version for ongoing work. The team also confirmed the full file set had been checked and invited any further specific items for review.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
Confirmed the address, required drawing set (plans, elevations, roof plan and section), and whether outbuildings were included. Agreed survey timing and shared practical coordination details to support access on the day, including who would attend and how the surveyor could be reached.
On-Site Survey
Booked the survey slot and confirmed arrival window. Coordinated with the client regarding access and attempted contact where needed to ensure the survey could proceed smoothly. Site attendance and communication arrangements were handled upfront to avoid delays on the day.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Completed the measured survey of the main building and included the studio and shed as part of the measured scope. Key measurements were captured to support accurate existing drawings, ready for CAD production and subsequent design coordination by the client team.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
Produced the draft drawing pack for client review, covering the requested drawing types. Issued the files for checking and feedback so any coordination issues could be identified early—particularly important where drawings needed to overlay cleanly between levels.
Draft Review and Final Handover
Actioned urgent feedback where floors did not align when overlaid. Rechecked the set, corrected the issue, and reissued drawings as “Rev001”. Resent the DWG when the latest version was not visible on the server, ensuring the client had the correct files for ongoing work.

Results & Impact

The client received an updated, checked drawing set labelled “Rev001”, resolving the alignment issue between floors and enabling the drawings to be used reliably for overlay and coordination. The DWG was re-supplied when requested to ensure the latest file version was available, alongside the finalised drawing pack for the main building and outbuildings.
