Semi-Detached Victorian Measured Survey & As-Built Drawings — Thames Ditton

Results at a Glance

Completed an on-site measured survey for a semi-detached L-shape Victorian property.

Captured drainage features (manholes and SVPs) and marked side boundaries as requested.

Issued a revised drawing set (labelled “Rev001”) following client review.

Client noted the on-site measurements were very thorough.

The Challenge

The client needed a measured building survey and an existing drawings package for a semi-detached, L-shape Victorian property in Thames Ditton. The request included plans, elevations, and one section, with added requirements to record drainage (manholes and SVPs) and indicate side boundaries.

The project also had scheduling constraints, with the survey arranged as an afternoon visit and the client requesting proactive arrival updates on the day. Following initial delivery, the client reported issues within the drawing pack—specifically an incorrect roof plan and a missing bay window on a side elevation—creating a clear need for careful revision control and a corrected re-issue.

Our Solution

We coordinated access and timings with the client team, sharing the surveyor’s details and confirming an afternoon arrival window. The measured survey was carried out on site to capture the building geometry and key features needed for an as-built drawing package, including drainage points and boundary references.

After the draft drawings were issued for review, we gathered the client’s feedback and produced an updated set of files. To make the latest documents easy to identify, the revised set was clearly labelled “Rev001” and shared as the most up-to-date package. This ensured the client could quickly locate the corrected drawings and continue with their next steps using the latest information.

The Process

Agreeing Scope, Fee and Friday Access
We confirmed the client’s requirements for a measured survey and an existing drawings package, including plans, elevations, and one section. The brief also specified recording drainage features (manholes and SVPs) and marking side boundaries, so these items were included in the survey checklist from the outset.
On-Site Survey
We agreed survey timings and coordinated access details with the client team. The survey was scheduled as an afternoon visit, and contact details were shared to support smooth entry and communication on the day, including an approximate arrival window.
Cross-Checking Before Leaving
Our surveyor completed a measured survey of the property to capture geometry and critical information required for accurate drawings. This included collecting key dimensions and noting drainage points and relevant external references needed for the requested as-built outputs.
Turning Survey into Plans and Elevations
Using the survey data, we produced the existing/as-built drawing package in CAD and issued draft PDFs for client review. This stage allowed the client team to check the drawings against their expectations and flag any items needing correction before the final issue.
Draft Review and Final Handover
Following review feedback, we updated the drawing set and re-issued the latest files with clear version control. The revised package was labelled “Rev001” to help the client identify the current set quickly, and the final deliverables were provided in DWG and PDF alongside site photographs.

Results & Impact

The project concluded with delivery of the updated drawing package and associated site imagery. While the client expressed disappointment about errors found across the drawing set, they also highlighted that the measurements taken on site were very thorough. The revisions were issued under a clear version label (“Rev001”) to support straightforward review and continued project progress.
