Victor got in touch because he wanted to extend and convert the loft of his family home in Chessington. Before committing to any design work or planning application, he needed:
- Ground floor plan
- First floor plan
- Roof plan
- Front, rear and side elevations
- One section
- All of this properly measured and issued in AutoCAD (DWG) so his designer could work from a reliable base.
Initially he referred to the rear outbuilding (a garage) but clarified that his proposed works focused on the main house only, so we confirmed that the garage didn’t need to be surveyed as part of this brief.
Scoping, quotation & including the site plan
Once we’d spoken on the phone and received the details by email, we:
- Confirmed the scope – main house only, no rear garage, but including:
- Ground, first and roof plans
- All main elevations
- One building section
- Sent over a formal quotation with an additional question:
- For a rear extension & loft conversion, would he also like a measured site plan?
Victor replied that yes, he did need a site plan as well, so we adjusted the scope to include this and re-confirmed everything in writing.
With the scope agreed, we:
- Issued the initial invoice
- Explained that this secures and activates the survey slot once paid
- Promised a clear turnaround from survey through to draft drawings, then final DWG + photos once the final invoice was settled
Victor confirmed he was happy with the quotation and asked us to move on to payment and availability.
Booking and carrying out the survey
We proposed two slots:
- Monday 13th October, arrival between 1:00–2:00 pm
- Tuesday 14th October, same window
Victor chose Monday 13th, and shortly afterwards:
- Paid the initial fee
- Received a payment receipt
- Got full survey details, including:
- Surveyor: Ali Uddin
- Mobile number for day-of coordination
- Confirmed date and arrival window
With the booking locked in, we added the project to our scheduling board and moved the card to “Confirmed” and then “In Progress”.
On the day, Ali:
- Carried out a full measured survey of the main house
- Collected internal dimensions with a laser distance meter and tape for checks
- Checked external walls and elevations from the street and garden
- Captured the roof form and pitches needed for loft design
- Measured enough around the property to construct a measured site plan suitable for extension/loft planning work
Turning measurements into CAD drawings
Back in the office, our CAD technician built a clean, layered model in AutoCAD to UK residential standards:
- Existing ground floor plan
- Existing first floor plan
- Existing roof plan
- Front, rear and side elevations
- A cross-section through the house
- Measured site plan tied in with the house footprint
Once the drawing set was assembled, we:
- Let Victor know that the project was complete
- Issued a draft PDF pack for his review
- Attached the final invoice, explaining that once payment was settled, we would issue:
- Final DWG files
- Final signed-off PDFs
- Site photographs
Victor was happy with the draft and proceeded to pay the final invoice.
Final delivery & loyalty discount
After the final payment:
- We confirmed receipt and attached the official payment receipt
- Shared a secure link – “HERE” – to all final drawings and project files
- Confirmed that everything requested (plans, elevations, section, site plan, DWGs, PDFs) had been included
Because we want to build long-term relationships with homeowners like Victor, we added one more touch:
As a token of appreciation, we offered a 10% discount on his next project if he could kindly leave us a short review via the link provided.
By the end of the job, Victor had:
