Andy asked us to prepare proposed drawings for a garden room at the rear of his property. He sent a block plan, example images of the building and a sketch of the layout, and needed clean architectural drawings for a planning application.

We first checked a few key points with him: whether the dimensions were internal or external, wall thickness, materials, cladding, roof slope, and door heights. Andy also asked us to allow for 250mm walls, breeze block construction with insulation, and a sloping roof with guttering at the rear.

Once everything was clear, we agreed the job and issued an invoice within the budget range. After payment, we produced the first set of plans and elevations, using his company title block and logo where provided.

Andy then requested a few design tweaks, such as changing the depth on each side, moving the building to sit closer to the rear boundary, and adjusting and centralising the bifold doors. We updated the drawings (Rev001, Rev002 etc.), sent them as PDFs for easier viewing, and confirmed the layout for the block plan.

After the final updates were approved, we sent Andy:

  • Final proposed plans and elevations in PDF
  • DWG file of the scheme
  • A block plan showing the garden room in the agreed position
  • A corrected invoice and payment receipt

Andy now has clear, branded drawings he can use to support his planning application for the garden room.
